Philip Mantle, former Director of Investigations for the British UFO Research Association, has raised concerns about governments' readiness for a potential alien attack, stating that world leaders would likely be ill-prepared for such an event. In an interview with the Daily Star, Mantle highlighted the lack of preparation evident in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a parallel to potential unpreparedness for an extraterrestrial threat.

Mantle expressed hope that any contact from alien life would be peaceful, questioning the logic of traveling vast distances only to engage in conflict. His comments come amidst findings from a recent poll indicating that 47% of Britons believe the government is unprepared for an alien attack, with 18% expressing concerns that an invasion could occur.

The United Kingdom Prime Minister's response to inquiries about unidentified objects spotted in the sky appeared to downplay the possibility of extraterrestrial involvement. When asked if the objects could be of alien origin, a Downing Street spokesperson stated that the Prime Minister was focused on "terrestrial issues".

Mantle, who contributes to Blaze channel's UFO Thursday programme, previously discussed Wales' status as the UK's UFO sighting hotspot. According to Mantle, Wales has an active network of ufologists and abundant space, making it the most likely place in Britain to spot a UFO. Ash Ellis, a podcaster and UFO enthusiast, claims that 21 of the 323 sightings across the UK last year were in Wales.

One notable incident contributing to Wales' UFO lore occurred in 1983 near the village of Llanilar near Aberystwyth. Metal debris collected from a crash site where an unidentified object collided with trees and scattered pieces across four fields has been cited as the only earthly physical evidence of a UFO encounter in Wales.
