Ireland Report / Story
The Royal City of Dublin Hospital was first established in 1832 by a group of doctors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland under the name of Baggot Street Hospital. The hospital was further extended and had the current facade of red brick and terracotta added in 1893 based on designs by Albert Edward Murray.

The hospital was renamed to the Royal City of Dublin Hospital following a visit in 1900 by Princess Alexandra.

The hospital closed in 1986/1987 (depending on what source you read) but was used partially for some other uses until the HSE decided to close and dispose of the building in March 2019. Up until the 2019 closure parts of the Haddington Road side of the site and buildings were used as drug treatment and community facilities.

The site has been visited by a number of groups of individuals over the years, no doubt in the look of a scare since the complete closure in 2019.
