SPOILERS: If you haven't seen the movie please be aware that there are spoilers below.

Swim Night, the 2024 movie is based on the 2014 short film of the same name by McGuire and Rod Blackhurst. Night Swim is the first movie release post the merger of Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster.

The basic story goes that a young girl goes missing and then the movie jumps to the present day with a family moving into the same house that the young girl went missing previously, unbeknownst to the new house members.

As the story ticks along, with everything centred around the swimming pool, the story digs deeper into the strangeness and odd alure, almost the mesmerising pull towards the back garden pool.

Without going too much into the movie and giving too much away, it brings up the question that a lot of people never think of when moving into a new house, did anyone die in the house previously?!

In some countries there is a legal requirement to let potential new buyers know of any deaths that took place in the house or on the property. In Ireland though that is not the case, there is no legal right to know anything about previous owners or tenets of a property.

Maybe ask yourself, how many people died in the house you are currently in while reading this article, or was someone murdered in the property, was that noise that you heard in the middle of the night related to a hidden history of the property that you have no idea about!?

A few things to think about while you lay awake at night unable to get to sleep worrying about something you might not be aware of that may have gone on in the property you reside.

That all aside though the movie wasn't the worst, it wasn't five out of five either. It's an enjoyable movie with a slight twist on the standard jump and scream movie.
