A 'goblin fetus' which was reportedly found in a warehouse clearout in the Santa Maria Regala region of Mexico has caused a huge amount of debate on social media, claims which have been echoed by the local mayor.

The municipal mayor, Francisco Mayoral Flores said,
"Samples have already been taken to determine a scientific explanation,"

A photo of the corpse shows a small body with what appears to have pointed ears with a pointed nose with claw tipped hands and feet as well.

Francisco Mayoral Flores was very quick to label the find as "goblin or a nagual", most knowing what a goblin is but a nagual is described in Mesoamerican mythology as a human with the ability to transform into an animal.

The 'goblin' remains are currently on display in the Museo de los Duendes which translates as the Goblin Museum in the municipality of Huasca de Ocampo.

Francisco Mayoral Flores further said,
"If it had been found in another municipality, it would not have been relevant,"

"But due to the themes of goblins and the mystical here, there is a cultural and social demand to give it importance."

He went on to say,
"doctors and vets have stated that it is a malformed fetus of a cat or dog,"

And that samples have been taken to confirm the identity of the creature.
