Investigative journalist Ross Coulthart has addressed recent speculation surrounding his earlier comments referring to the year 2027, clarifying his position at the “Contact in the Desert” conference held in California.
Coulthart, known for his work on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and government secrecy, previously stated that multiple sources had informed him that “we’re on borrowed time” in relation to forthcoming disclosures or developments. These comments have since fuelled considerable public interest and speculation within the UFO research community.
Speaking at the 2025 conference, Coulthart offered clarification, saying that his remarks should be understood within the context of the information made available to him. He confirmed that he's not saying something will or won’t happen in 2027 and that he can only go on the information and data he receives and looks into.
Coulthart has consistently stated that much of the material he investigates involves testimony from individuals bound by official secrecy. While he has not named these sources, he describes them as being from within military or intelligence communities.
In episode three of a UAP related show earlier this year, filmmaker and UAP researcher Jeremy Corbell has also referenced the year 2027 as well as in public interviews. Corbell has indicated that there may be internal discussions within government agencies targeting 2027 as a point by which certain information could be disclosed or may otherwise become unavoidable to withhold. However, like Coulthart, Corbell has emphasised that his knowledge is based on sources and insights from within defence and intelligence circles, and not on any specific confirmed timeline.
To date, there has been no official statement from any government confirming or denying a significant event tied to the year 2027. Coulthart’s reporting continues to rely on interviews, whistleblower accounts, and document analysis. He has previously urged governments to provide greater transparency on the subject of UAPs.
Interest continues to grow internationally, both Coulthart and Corbell remain prominent figures in the call for greater public awareness and official accountability regarding unidentified aerial phenomena.

“Everybody’s telling me we’re on borrowed time”
“I cannot begin to emphasize how serious a look I get... They’re saying to me, ‘People have a right to know this’...
They are all constrained by their national security oaths. They want the public to know.”
