No New Cases - Hepatitis of Unknown Cause in Children Latest Update from Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) - 10th August 2022

There have been no new probable cases of hepatitis in children of unknown origin since the update on the 3rd of August 2022 from the HPSC.
This means that the total number of probable cases remains at 25 which was first reported on the 3rd of August 2022.
All probable cases are in children between the ages of 0 and 12 years of age, 24 of the 25 cases were hospitalised. Two children have received a liver transplant and there has been one death associated with this disease.
There is still no single virus or source that can be identified to point to the cause of these cases of hepatitis in children.
