SAUCER, a self described apparel company are going after drop shipping sellers to remove merchandise that infringes SAURCER's trademarks of 'UAP'.

The company have trademarks for 'UAP' and 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena' which has caused a good bit of negative opinion and backlash on social media.

SAUCER released a statement with the below.

"We are not suing anyone. We are not asking for any monetary compensation from any 'UAP' or 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena' t-shirts on drop shipping websites."

"Our legal team recently reached out to several drop shipping companies and made them aware of our various registered trademarks since counterfeit SAUCER products have emerged in recent months. Our registered trademarks 'UAP' and 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena' are registered solely for apparel. SAUCER is an apparel company. Since we started we've focused on apparel and have met many great people as a result."

"We understand the frustrations of those who may have been affected; however, we're not looking to sue or take anyone to court. As an apparel company focused on UFO-inspired products. obtaining registrations for 'UAP' and 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena' was an idea we initiated years ago. According to various drop shipping platforms, several uses of the terms on apparel are considered infringements on our registered trademarks."

"Once the drop shipping platforms were made aware of our trademarks, they acted accordingly. Our registered trademarks for 'UAP' and 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena' do not extend past apparel. As a company, we are legally obligated to enforce our registered trademarks."

"At the end of the day, SAUCER is an apparel company founded by three young entrepreneurs with a passion for the UFO mystery. We're not looking to upset anyone or destroy anyone's work. We're all inspired by the same mystery. We've just decided to show our enthusiasm through apparel and have built a successful company around that."

"We apologize to those who are upset about their t-shirt listings being taken down from drop shipping platforms."

The official statement basically states that SAUCER is an apparel company and that they will do what they can legally to enforce their trademarks regardless of upsetting anyone who could have been selling their art work on apparel on drop shipping websites for many years.

The general feeling on social media among the UFO/UAP community is outrage with people saying they will never purchase a SAUCER product again.

It's early days yet but I doubt this will be the end of the story.

If someone were to question the trademarks then it is possible the trademarks could be cancelled on the grounds that the mark is generic.
