According to a former US Air Force officer Robert Salas, a UFO was reported to be behind 10 nuclear weapons being disabled in 1967.

When this incident is reported to have happened, Salas was a commander of a secret underground launch base at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.

Salas spoke after the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force hearing to say, "Nuclear missiles have been stopped by UFOs for eight days and it’s all documented and there are eyewitness accounts. Key witnesses, including myself, are still alive and can testify about this incident.".

"Without a doubt, I would have given evidence under oath at the inquest and brought documentation in the form of audio recordings, letters, etc. After the incident, we were told not to talk about them, in other words, there was a cover-up. The investigation teams never questioned us about causation or trying to find it, and it was kept secret."

Salas was speaking after the Pentagon had it's first public (followed by a classified briefing, closed to the public) hearing in 50 years where it was disclosed that in the past 50 years that 400 UFO/UAP incidents had been recorded.

The Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, Scott Bray stated that while the incidents can't be explained, there is nothing to indicate an alien origin.

Bray further stated that alien presence has not been found and that none of the documented objects had tried to contact American pilots who have been reporting sightings since 2004.
