Ireland Report / StoryReported Experience
In October 1967 a sighting of a UFO took place in Belfast in the area of Newtownabbey. The witness that reported the sighting was Charles Lloyd, a resident of Newtownabbey.

Mr. Lloyd described the object as very bright. In the case of this sighting the object wasn't just a single colour, Lloyd went on to say that the object changed from white to red and then to green.

To add further support to this sighting, the object that Mr. Lloyd witnessed was also recorded on nearby Aldergrove Airport radar, it was reported that the object hovered at a height of 9,500 feet over the Sydenham area.

Aldergrove's air traffic control (ATC) tower asked a nearby flight of which was a BEA aircraft to look out in the direction of the unknown object they had seen on radar. The pilot of the BEA aircraft looked out and reported back to the ATC tower that they spotted the object on their starboard side.

The airport was known as Aldergrove airport until 1983 which then changed it's name to Belfast International Airport and continues to use this new name to this day.
