Red Egg Shaped Object Landed on Farmland in Derry, August 1958

In country Derry on the 7th of August 1958 a farmer and his wife were taken aback by what they witnessed on their farm in Moneymore.
They reported to have witnessing an egg shaped object descend from the sky and apparently land in some difficult terrain on their property, the object was described as red in colour.
Mr. Hutchinson's first reaction was that he wanted to capture whatever had just landed on his property but was dissuaded by his wife not to.
The object appeared to 'land' not far from the two witnesses, approximately 200 metres and then disappeared out of sight.
Local police were called to investigate the issue but had no idea what they were meant to do, a comment by police at the time confirmed the lack of procedures for investigating an apparent UFO landing, "This is the first time anything like this has happened here!".
Nothing further was to come from this encounter and no other encounters were reported by Mr. Hutchinson and his wife.
